A typical weekend for a dog in my care.
Saturday 7am Hello - who are you? What are you doing in my house - think I'd better growl and show her she's not supposed to be here in my house. How dare you touch me! (more growls) . . . you needn't try to put that harness thing on me - I hate having to step into it (growl). She's put that down so I suppose I've blown my walk . . . wait a minute . . . thats my lead . . . she's opening the door . . . time to show her I'm the leader of the pack. She says to sit down and be a good dog (Arf) I don't think so. Quick walk around the streets then back home and time for a sleep.
Saturday 3pm Hey its you (good to see you) glad you're back . . . sorry if I was grumpy this morning . . . didn't realise you wanted to go for a walk . . . here - play with my ball. Want a lick of my bone? The lead again (oh joy) I'm beginning to like this idea - just a quick pee break round the block she says but its very hot . . . she gave me a nice long drink of water and a dog treat because I sat down at the front door and waited while she fiddled with those key thingies.
Saturday 9.30pm Hey Auntie Jayne! Please, lets have a game - wanna play with my ball? I do believe she's got the lead out again another walkies - yay! You're alright you. Big hug and tickle everytime I sit at the kerb when I'm told . . . oops time to take a dump - isn't it funny how humans always want to collect our poo? A dog treat because I poo'd . . . humans are funny things. We've been out for quite a long time and I'm hungry now. Ahh - thats our street . . . I didn't know you could get to it this way. In the house and its food time (so-oh excited) jump about to show her where my meat and biscuits are kept, they're just like the ones Mom and Da give me . . . licking the bowl across the kitchen floor, hit the cupboard, lick the bowl back the other way. All finished (burp) thanks Aunties Jayne. Another doggie treat? I don't know if I can, I'm so full. Okay, you've persuaded me. Lights out and its bedtime with a nice drink of water.
Sunday 8am Hiya! Hiya! Hiya! I heard your car pull up, lets get going then. Off down the street, playing that sitting at the kerb game again when we cross the road (its a funny sort of game but she seems to like it) sometimes I get a treat for sitting - most times I get told I'm a really good dog and get a scratch behind the ears. Its warm again this morning pant, pant! Auntie Jayne says its bad to chase cats and they're nothing to do with me so I'm trying really hard to ignore the big ginger cat sitting in a garden we pass. Something funny keeps happening though, everytime I give her a hand and pull her along faster she turns and walks the other way - its hard trying to keep up with which way to walk but if I don't help her by pulling her along she seems to walk in the same direction (humans are funny things). Home to a nice long drink of water a quick game of fetch with a ball in the garden and dog treats for taking the ball back and dropping it at her feet. Excuse me . . . need to have a kip now.
Sunday 2pm Jayne! Jayne! get my lead, lets go, lets go, lets go! She's taken that harness thing Mum and Dad make me wear to pieces and its seems sort of okay when she slips it over my head and gently does up the straps to hold it in place. She's saying for being a good boy I can go on the 'long lead' whatever that is . . . she does talk some rubbish . . . I have lamp posts and bushess to mark! Off down the street for a quick stretch of legs she says. Someone dropped a tennis ball in the bush . . . she let me carry it all round the block before she distracted me with one of those gravy bones she keeps in that funny little bag. When I looked around the ball had gone. She says we'll find it again later. Walking through the park and Auntie Jayne seems to have made my lead longer (its very strange) but it goes short again back on the road.Turning for home again. Another nice drink of water and a Bone biscuit and time for sleep again.
Sunday 6pm Look Jayne, I got my lead ready for you . . . sorry about emptying papers out of the dustbin . . . I was a bit bored this afternoon. Garden game first while Jayne sorts out my food and water bowls and tidies the papers off the floor into the big grey bin outside. We did the harness thing again (its not so bad really, don't know why I growl and make such a fuss when Mom and Dad put it on me). A lovely walk along the roads and through part of the park then we had a great game with a ball in a big field. Auntie Jayne has this really long lead thingy which means I can run and chase balls when she throws them, even jump up and catch them! Out of the field and back on the short lead again, we saw kids on bikes and cats and other dogs but Jayne talks rubbish to me all the time we're walking and I have to listen carefully in case I miss her telling me something important. Back home and its food time. Its already on the floor with a bowl of water so I don't need to prance around showing her where the biscuits and meat are kept (she catches on quickly, this one, I'll have her trained in no time). Another bone biscuit and a cuddle and its time for bed again.
Sunday 10pm Hey there! Mom, Dad . . . I've really missed you . . . let me tell you about my new friend Auntie Jayne . . . .
