Pain Free Mandolin

I may not be the greatest mandolin player in the world but I am a good teacher of stringed instruments and mandolin is my second instrument after guitar.

I also play Ukele, Bass and Tenor Banjo

The key to successful and painless mandolin playing is finger and wrist co-ordination / discipline. The following examples are starter pieces. Start off by playing downstrokes and build your muscle memory by playing alternate down and up strokes. In the very early stages - play a downstroke on the 'beat'. 'Off beats' should be played with an upstroke. This will assist you with smooth tremelo playing later on.

If you want to know more - book a lesson and I'll introduce you to my coloured tab and traffic light finger method which will help you quickly develop finger and your wrist movements without the need for reading music. I can also increase your tune / chord repertiore and introduce you to sites where you can download additional resources as your playing develops. You'll soon be playing confidently.
