Private / Individual Lessons.

Individual lessons will encourage your child to play and should vary in length, depending upon the age of the child. As a rough guide - up to age 8 (the earliest age I teach) lessons should last for about twenty minutes (£8), 8 to 10 year olds twenty five minute lessons (£10). For older children and adults fifty minutes (£20) to an hour (£24) is ideal after the first few months. Lessons are structured to follow a graduated 'scheme of work' to maximise development of playing ability and style.

PAYMENT: All lessons are subject to the terms and conditions of MU/RGT teaching contracts which have to be posted to the student. The contract needs to be signed and returned with a cheque in full payment of the lesson to secure the provisional lesson / appointment.

REFUNDS: Are not available for cancellations of initial / provisional lessons under any circumstances, however, should an appointment need to be changed I will make every effort to re-arrange to a mutually convenient time.

DISCOUNTS: Available for pre-payment, *5%* for blocks of 8 lessons and *10%* for 12 or more lessons (subject to availability) or monthly Direct Debit payments. Pre-paid lessons are offered only on completion of initial assessment appointments.

EXAMS: My teaching room is sometimes used as an exam venue by the Registry of Guitar Tutors and London College of Music for their Electric, Acoustic and Classical guitar exams. The obvious advantage is students taking exams feel confident being examined in the room they normally learn in and there is no travelling to a remote venue to take exams. Exams are also held in Solihull, Milton Keynes Worcester and London.

Whilst my real love is teaching acoustic guitar children may want to learn electric guitar and this is a natural progression in the teenage years. The learning materials readily convert between electric, acoustic and classical playing and, whilst I prefer to teach standard music notation it isn't essential to be able to read music to learn to play guitar or even take RGT exams.
